01

Check whether the role fits your experience

Describe your actual experience and preferences. The same job title can involve different tasks at different workplaces.

  • Summarise your trades, years of experience, equipment used and qualifications. State your languages, preferred country and availability to travel.
  • Ask about daily tasks, shifts, temperatures, lifting and training. Discuss relevant work limitations during the role assessment.
02

Review pay alongside the contract

A monthly figure does not describe the full offer. Ask for terms you can verify, separating confirmed details from outstanding questions.

  • Confirm the employer, workplace, contract length, probation arrangements, weekly hours, rest days and overtime calculation.
  • Check whether pay is gross or net, how often it is paid, and which elements are fixed or variable. Identify allowances and possible deductions; treat estimates as estimates.
03

Confirm housing and transport

Housing and the commute affect everyday life. Confirm the arrangements and contacts before travelling.

  • Confirm who arranges housing, occupancy, basic facilities and transport. Ask what happens to the accommodation if the job ends or changes.
  • Confirm the services, travel arrangements and the person responsible for each. Keep the written agreement and the contact for communicating changes.
04

Prepare documents in stages

Start with information needed to assess your profile. Prepare formal documents once the destination, role and procedure are defined.

  • For an initial enquiry, prepare your experience, skills and contact details. Verify the recipient and purpose before sharing identity documents through an agreed channel.
  • Then follow the confirmed checklist for your passport and any required qualifications, health or background documents. Check validity, translation and authentication requirements before arranging them.
05

Check progress before arranging travel

Requirements and timings vary by country and case. Know the next step and the person responsible at each stage.

  • Understand the sequence: enquiry, role assessment, interview, written confirmation, application and travel. Ask about current status, outstanding items and how updates will reach you.
  • Before buying tickets or making irreversible plans, verify the applicable permits, visas or entry conditions and the employer's confirmation. Keep copies of essential documents and your contract.
06

Confirm arrival and the first working days

Know where to go and whom to contact. Airport collection, interpreting and practical support should match the written service scope.

  • Record the arrival point, accommodation, reporting time and employer contact. Confirm induction, protective equipment and assistance with necessary formalities.
  • Keep separate contacts for the employer, service provider and advisers. Agree how to raise pay questions, housing issues and urgent problems.

For your first enquiry, share your preferred country, main work experience, languages and availability. This preparation guide does not advertise vacancies, guarantee an outcome or replace country-specific legal advice.
